I've been a passionate sports and travel photographer for over 35 years - back from the days of owning my first manual Pentax MX SLR film camera. Learning from my mistakes and trying to ensure each shot was perfectly exposed when using expensive slide film. The pleasure from photography back then was finishing that roll of slide film, hurriedly getting it processed at the local camera shop and then the excitement of going through those images to hopefully find that 'magic' shot. 

 

I made some early life choices after University to travel extensively around parts of the world - following my passion for windsurfing and waves to some far flung locations off the beaten track. After leaving the UK and obtaining Australian citizenship in my mid twenties, this helped enable my international career and photography side passion opportunities to travel and absorb the culture of some  unique 'restricted access' countries. It feels now like the world has shrunk with locations more accessible, with everything being shared on social media. The days of owning that essential Lonely Planet travel guide have ended - however my hunger to explore locations less trodden continues, whether this is by land or by sea-kayak.  Having lived the majority of my life outside of the UK in Australia & Middle East - I believe the most important part of education is travel, witnessing different life experiences, discovering new locations and listening to people's life stories is compelling. 

 

Fast forward 35 years later and having moved back to the UK - my passion, curiosity and energy continues to this day with trying to capture that unique image - whether this being sports, landscape or lifestyle photography.
